Pyrotecnico of Louisiana conducts a $25,000 fireworks show on Friday night. The fireworks are shot from Main Beach and many visitors come out to watch the magnificent fireworks display from the levee or in boats gathered out from one end of the lake to the other. Grenada's radio station B100, choreographs music to the fireworks display.
Enjoy 20+ rides and 10+ games and attractions during our wristband nights at Thunder on Water from Wednesday all the way up until Sunday afternoon.
Think you got what it takes to become BBQ Pitmaster? Grenada Lake celebrates the Annual Thunder on Water with a BBQ Championship Contest. 1st-5th places for winners that include cash and trophies.
Mike Hanson of Delta Breeze has several hot air balloons available for the balloon glow and two used for tethered rides. A big thank you to Sayle Oil Co. for providing the propane.
Arts & Crafts and Food Vendors of all kinds participate in Thunder on Water from Friday until Sunday. Event organizers guarantee good quality vendors across the board.
Vicksburg Corp of Engineers and Grenada MS Tourism Commission conduct the Kids Fishing Rodeo while Grenada Lake’s Water Safety Team set up a water safety booth. The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks, along with Grenada Lake Field Office provide approximately 2,000 pounds of catfish for this event. Conservation Officers assist the kids with baiting hooks and taking fish off the lines.
The Dixie Iron Tractor Pull, which features pre-1960 tractors, is conducted at the Blue Hole on Saturday of Thunder on Water. The event typically 25+ tractors competing, and even hosts a kids ride.
The Crossroads Cruisers and O’Reilly Auto Parts sponsor the Car and Truck Show at the South Outlet Channel on Saturday of Thunder on Water. Tthe show provides an awesome variety of antique cars, muscle cars, and show cars with 70+ entries and several hundred spectators. The Bike Show is also conducted on Saturday at Dam Area Central.
Held at Main Event Grenada, prior to the Thunder on Water weekend, this pageant features some of the smallest cuties to male and female adults.
Adoration Hospice along with MedStat Ambulance Service provide first aid and medical services to the event’s visitors. There is also a mobile medical services trailer located near the Sheriff’s mobile command post.
Grenada County Sheriff’s Department provides safety, security and traffic control for the event with approximately 40 deputies working the event. Soldiers from Det 3, Company A Recruiting and Retention Battalion also help with security. Tie Plant Volunteer Fire Department provide safety, security, and crowd control for the fireworks display.
